Foundations of First Nations Administration

The First Nations Public Service Secretariat (FNPSS) invites First Nations Band Managers, Chief Administrative Officers, or those in an equivalent role looking to expand their network, skills and knowledge in administration to register for the 2024 offering of Foundations of First Nation Administration (FFNA). 

This is a 9-week introductory course covering a variety of key topics essential to First Nations governance and public administration. Subjects will include: 

  • Communications 
  • Community Engagement 
  • Records & Information Management 
  • Wellness 
  • Human Resources 
  • Economic Development 
  • Finance Fundamentals  
  • And more!  

Students will be taught by First Nations experts in each subject, including previous facilitators for FNPSS’ Management Training Academies, Indigenous consultants, and government workers. Sessions will also be supported by various Indigenous Service Organizations, and relevant resources will be shared with participants throughout the duration of the course. Session facilitators will be announced shortly.  

Participants will finish the course with applicable skills to help with their daily responsibilities, and a new network of people with similar challenges to connect with. 

 

The schedule is as follows: 

  • Online via Zoom, Tuesdays and Thursdays, 8:30am-12:00pm October 8 –December 5  
  • With one full week in-person, Kelowna BC, October 21-25, 8:30am-4:30pm
