Human Resources Management Training Academy (MTA)

The FNPSS Human Resources Management Training Academy (MTA) is coming to Vancouver in May 2025! This in-person event focuses on strategic HR planning, equipping participants with practical knowledge and skills to build a strong HR framework for their team. Designed for BC First Nations HR managers, this training empowers participants to enhance their organizational structures, fostering efficiency, effectiveness, and retention in the workplace. This training will take place over 2 full in-person days in Vancouver, BC. 

 

During this immersive training, participants will learn: 

  • Strategic HR Planning: Gain insights into effective strategic HR planning to support organizational goals. 
  • Recruitment and Selection: Learn best practices for attracting, selecting and retaining staff. 
  • Plan Monitoring: Understand the importance of monitoring HR plans. 
  • Managing Relationships: Develop skills to manage professional relationships effectively. 
  • Performance Management: Explore strategies for evaluating and enhancing employee performance. 
  • Evaluation: Learn methods for assessing HR initiatives and their impact. 

 

The sessions will also include opportunities for: 

  • Discussion and Engagement 
  • Interactive Exercises 
  • Learning about Mental Health Impacts 
  • Relationship Building 
  • Q&A Sessions 

 

Date: May 28, 29, 2025 

Delivery: In-person 

Location: Vancouver, BC. More details to be released when registration opens. 

Cost: $200.00* 

 

Who Should Attend? 

This training is ideal for BC First Nations Band Administrators, HR Managers, and other senior management staff.

*Reimbursement Policy* 

To support First Nations participation in this training, FNPSS will provide a full reimbursement of training fees and travel costs for a maximum of two participants from each BC First Nation to attend the HR MTA.  

 

To be eligible, a participant must meet the following requirements:  

  1. Be currently working in the role of a Band Administrator, Band Manager, Chief Administrative Officer or equivalent; OR be currently working in the role of an HR professional in a BC First Nation.  
  1. Attend the full HR MTA in-person. If a participant does not attend all sessions of the training, they will not be eligible for reimbursement. 
  1. Provide an approval letter from your CAO, Band Manager or Chief and Council, to attend the full in-person training.  
  1. Not exceed the limit of two participants per Nation to receive reimbursement.  

 

Additional representatives from the same community or Nation may attend the event at their own expense.    

 

What’s Included for Reimbursement 

Two participants per BC First Nation will be eligible for reimbursement of the following:  

  • 100% of the training registration fees waived. 
  • Reasonable travel costs, meals (less provided) and incidentals per the First Nations Summit Society Travel Policy. Breakfast and lunch will be provided on all training days. 
  • Accommodation at the hotel (location to be confirmed). The allowance for accommodations is one extra day plus training dates for a maximum of three nights. 

 

Expenses that will not be reimbursed include, but are not limited to: 

  • Local travel within Vancouver beyond commercial transportation between the hotel, airport or ferry. 
  • Fees for late cancellations (accommodations, airfare, etc.)
