Description:

Day 1 of the RIM MTA will provide participants with an overview of the fundamentals of records and information management (RIM) and why RIM is crucial to your operational success.

Day 2 session will show you how to file and classify records.

Day 3 will give you the tools you need to start your RIM program on any budget.

Sessions will include networking opportunities, interactive workshops and take-home templates and resources. The agenda is available on the registration site.

Facilitators:

Adrienne Morrison: Adrienne “Bobbie” Morrison, MLIS has worked as the Records Manager for Tsleil-Waututh Nation since 2013. She has developed an historic archives and information management practices for Tsleil-Waututh Nation and is currently leading a SharePoint/Collabware implementation. Adrienne is active on the First Nations Information Governance Advisory Committee, which supports resource and capacity development for RIM in the First Nations sector. An occasional consultant, Adrienne has worked with several First Nations in BC on specific RIM initiatives including traditional knowledge management and optimizing referrals workflows.

Ken Oldenburger: For twenty-five years, Ken has provided records and information management (RIM) consulting services to corporations, universities, societies and provincial, territorial, regional, municipal and First Nations governments. These services have involved filing and classifying (of course!); destroying, storing and transferring files (i.e., disposition processing); developing RIM policies and procedures; assessing, planning, managing and implementing RIM programs; providing RIM training and advice; and designing, reviewing and amending various and numerous Records Classification and Retention Schedules (RCRS). Ken is a founding member of the Vancouver Island Chapter of ARMA International and is currently active on the ARMA Canada board.
