Looking to expand your skills in policy development? The First Nations Public Service Secretariat (FNPSS) is excited to offer our popular virtual Policy Development Management Training Academy (MTA) again! Including three half-day virtual workshops, this MTA is designed to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of the policy development process within a BC First Nations context. By participating in this MTA, you will learn what makes a successful and effective policy, understand the complete cycle of policy development, and explore critical aspects such as risk management and policy education.
In this virtual training, participants will learn to:
- Create an ongoing policy development process
- Maintain an effective policy cycle
- Understand the skills required for creating and implementing policy
- Develop new and revised policies from a change management perspective
- Use effective communication to explain policies to staff, leadership and the community
- Understand the relationship between policy and a community’s strategic plan, mission, and vision
The goal of the Policy Development MTA is to equip participants with practical strategies and tools that can be immediately implemented to enhance the capacity of their First Nations governments or organizations.
