Website Best Practices for Effective Communication (FNPSS & FNTC Communications Webinar 1)

Your website plays a unique, and extremely important, role for reaching and engaging your community’s membership. With the world becoming more reliant on digital tools, it will only become more vital for First Nations communities to successfully utilize a website. Join Zandra Ross (Williams Lake First Nation) – Trainer, Facilitator, and Leadership Coach, to learn easy-to-implement techniques that will make your website work more effectively as a part of your overall community engagement strategy.

Participants will learn effective website layout techniques, discuss how to strategize their website based on their members’ specific needs, and be introduced to virtual tools to make their website more engaging in this digital world. While all are welcome, the first 45 minutes of the webinar will be tailored to website beginners, and the second 45 minutes will be targeted to your organizations’ Communications Officer or website technician. Time for Q&A will be available.

This webinar is the first of two Communications Webinars in May of 2021 presented by FNTC and FNPSS which will provide tailored communications engagement techniques and tools, both online and offline, for First Nations in BC.

Foundations for Professional Communications, an offering from the First Nations Public Service Secretariat and the Nicola Valley Institute of Technology, got off to a great start with our in-person week of learning in January. Pictured here is the incredible cohort of First Nations communicators, and our amazing instructor, Davis McKenzie of Toxw oxw (Becoming Clear) Communications.

The students were able to hone their skills in key areas of communications, and at the end of the week were joined by Howard Grant, Executive Director of the First Nations Summit, and Jehan Casey, Director of the First Nations Public Service Secretariat, who were in attendance as they presented their very own communications plans. All their hard work, commitment, and enthusiasm made this week a huge success, and we are so excited for them as they complete this course and continue their journeys in communications!
