Save the Date: March 10-11, 2021
We invite you to join us on March 10-11 for the first of a series of virtual sessions for the 9th annual Our Gathering kexwkexwntsút chet, tə sq̓əq̓ip ct co-hosted by the First Nations Leadership Council, Indigenous Services Canada, and Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada.
In accordance with the current province-wide COVID-19 public health order, we are organizing virtual sessions instead of gathering in-person as we have previously. Following the initial sessions March 10-11 subsequent sessions will be held approximately every ten weeks into Fall 2021.
We extend our sincere condolences to those who are grieving the death of loved ones. Although we will be physically apart please join us in beginning our time together at Our Gathering, 2021 kexwkexwntsút chet, tə sq̓əq̓ip ct by participating in an opening honour song to acknowledge those who have gone before us.
Thank you to those who provided input into our pre-Gathering survey. A detailed agenda will be sent in the weeks ahead. We are planning sessions to provide an opportunity for leaders and representatives from First Nations and government to come together to share and discuss a variety of topics including responses to the COVID-19 pandemic, Specific Claims, and Bill C-15, Canada’s proposed legislation to implement the United Nations Declaration of the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.
