Featuring Chief Crystal Smith, Haisla Nation Council
Chief Crystal Smith is a passionate advocate for her people. She sees great value in building Haisla Nation-owned joint venture partnerships, which allow members to be part of major projects in their territory, providing a doorway to rewarding work and educational opportunities that will benefit both current and future generations. Twelve years ago, Chief Smith joined the Haisla Nation Council as an Executive Assistant, becoming a Councillor in 2009 and Chief Councillor in 2017. She understands the challenges both of being on staff or in elected leadership and is committed to sharing what she has learned with others. Chief Smith holds a Diploma in Business Administration from Coast Mountain College and a Business Skills Certificate from Thompson Rivers University.

These 90-minute, informal sessions are part of the FNPSS Mentorship Network, which connects BC First Nations with support in the areas of administration, elected leadership, and community planning.
