In this webinar we’ll provide an overview of the University of the Fraser Valley’s
*NEW* Civic Governance and Innovation (CGI) Certificate program
Designed for employees of municipalities, regional districts, First Nations
governments, Improvement Districts, and supporting agencies, the Civic
Governance and Innovation (CGI) certificate program uses case study analysis
and applied projects to examine how local governments pursue innovation and
risk-taking.
Local governments will face big issues in the years coming, ranging from new
technology demands to climate change adaptation. To take on these challenges,
municipal employees, elected officials, and members of the public will need
to work together to share knowledge, take calculated risks, and effect change
through collaborative, cross-organizational processes.
The CGI certificate program, designed by sector experts, teaches techniques for
weighing evidence to aid decision-making and methods for analyzing ideas to
improve outcomes. Learners will explore how socio-demographic and economic
diversity influences public engagement and service delivery. Participants in the
program may also be engaging with your own organization’s employees
or with other regional governments to tackle these and other
questions.
