Dear Chiefs Council, sister organizations, and friends:

The 55th Annual General Assembly (AGA) will take place October 4th – 6th, 2023 (calendar invite attached). We are pleased to advise that the hybrid AGA will be held at the Gibraltar Room, Cariboo Memorial Recreation Complex in Williams Lake (Secwepemc territory) with a virtual option via Zoom. Thank you to the Williams Lake First Nation for hosting the event. Please register here and contact ccregistration@ubcic.bc.ca if you would like assistance.

Because it is the AGA, we respectfully ask members to register and attend to address organizational business such as passing the audit and accepting minutes from the previous year, as well as setting mandates for the upcoming year. If you are unavailable, please send a proxy. Attached, please find a proxy template letter as well as a membership letter for the 2023-24 fiscal year. Please contact Tracy Point (membership@ubcic.bc.ca or 604-831-4265) if you have not yet renewed your membership for the current fiscal.

Applications are now open for the 2023 First Nations Well Being Fund!
Deadline to apply: December 31, 2023, 11:59pm (PST).
The First Nations Well Being Fund has been developed and is being implemented by FNPSS in order to support First Nations in their efforts to promote well-being, increase quality of life for all community members and reduce poverty at the community and Nation level.
There are two streams of project funding available: Stream 1: Community Projects and Stream 2: Planning Projects.

Applications are now open for the BC First Nations Public Service Scholarship!

The scholarship supports Indigenous professionals in BC First Nation governments to access training for Administration or management of public services. Each scholarship is valid for up to two years in the amount of up to $1,500 and will be provided to the successful candidate(s) specified post-secondary institution upon proof of registration.

Calling all Band Managers, CAOs and Executive Directors – mark your calendars! FNPSS’ Foundations of First Nations Administration (FFNA) course is being offered once again, beginning in August 2023. This introductory, comprehensive course will take place over 6-weeks in a hybrid model. This includes an in-person session at the beginning in Victoria, BC and an in-person session at the end in Prince George, BC. This course will be co-facilitated by leadership mentor and motivational speaker, Zandra Ross. FFNA will also feature expert facilitators and keynote speakers in areas such as Human Resources, Economic Development, Financial Fundamentals and more!
