The BC Assembly of First Nations (BCAFN) is hosting 2023 BCAFN Women Chiefs and Leaders Caucus Meeting in the ancestral, traditional and unceded territories of the Xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) and Səl̓ilwətaʔɬ/Sel̓ílwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh). Please note, the event is hybrid and can be attended in-person or online (via Zoom).
All First Nations Chiefs and leadership who identify as female are welcome to attend. This caucus will hold space for First Nations women Chiefs, Traditional/Hereditary leaders and Councillors to discuss their experiences as leaders, and priorities within their communities. BCAFN representatives will provide an update on BCAFN’s advocacy and co-chairs will hold collaborative dialogue on strengthening and supporting First Nations women in leadership. There will also be a keynote address and exploration of how First Nation women are leading implementation of the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.
