Get involved with our “Train-the-Trainer” program

Are you interested in advancing your career in Human Resources (HR) or Records and Information Management (RIM) while helping to build capacity amongst First Nations organizations and communities?

FNPSS is looking for new participants for our “Train-the-Trainer” program. This program will develop a cohort of individuals, who are already knowledgeable in the fields of Records and Information Management (RIM) or Human Resources (HR), to deliver our Management Training Academy (MTA) training program to other First Nations individuals and communities across BC. This program will take place virtually over August and September 2022, and Trainees who have successfully completed the program will then deliver RIM and HR MTAs from mid-fall 2022 to early winter 2023, depending on scheduling.

The Train-the-Trainer program will require a 10-to-20-hour commitment from interested Trainees, which includes attending virtual learning sessions as well as completing self-directed learning of the MTA materials.

If you have substantive experience working in RIM or HR, have worked with First Nations communities, and are interested in being a part of the program, please contact the FNPSS team at info@fnps.ca to learn more. For further information on the MTA program, please visit Management Training Academies – First Nations Public Service Secretariat (fnps.ca)

Congratulations to the 11 graduates of the first ever FNPSS Foundations of First Nations Administration course. The BC First Nation senior administrators spent 7 weeks meeting 3 times a week on Zoom and completed the program with a week of in-person learning and networking.

“I enjoyed the ability to share stories with others who are in the same position and going through the same things. It is good to know we are not alone.”

“I have raved about the course to all my directors and truly believe that everyone is eligible should attend in order to improve their understanding.”

Tell us how we can improve the Knowledge Network to better serve First Nations in BC.

The First Nations in BC Knowledge Network (ow.ly/9QRp50K0xX2) is a central place for First Nations to share ideas, tools, and best practices on areas of governance and community development toward independence and self-determination.

We invite you to tell us what the revitalized site could do better. Your ideas will help shape how we utilize this tool to advance our work and support Nations with capacity building now and into the future. Get involved in this meaningful website revitalization by taking a short survey and/or participating in a focus group.
